Jyoti Misra Sen, Ph. D., M. Sc.

Jyoti Misra Sen is an immunologist and a molecular biologist with Ph. D. training at Columbia University in New York City and post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Sen was recruited to National Institute on Aging [NIA] and National Institutes of Health from a faculty position at Harvard Medical School and The Dana Farber Cancer Center. Since arriving at the NIA, Dr. Sen has developed a keen interest in the aging of the immune system and the mechanisms that alter the functional outcomes for individuals who experience generally good health. In this context, efficacy of vaccination in the elderly remains a major concern despite the advances in expeditious development of effective vaccines to current and emerging infectious threats. Understanding the molecular basis of immune response to vaccination, using state of the art technologies, has great potential to increase the efficacy of vaccination and facilitate best outcomes for the elderly. Accordingly, this is the main focus of Dr. Sen’s involvement in JH CAIR
